Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Minister for Local Government Mina Khan Afridi has taken swift action after receiving complaints of alleged corruption in the sports development funds allocated to village councils of the merged districts. Each council had been provided Rs. 500,000 to promote sports activities at the local level.

According to reports, Minister Afridi was informed about irregularities and misuse of funds, prompting him to order the formation of an inquiry committee.

As per the official notification, the inquiry committee will consist of two Deputy Directors from the Directorate General of Local Government, who have been tasked with scrutinizing all relevant records, including minutes of meetings, expenditure vouchers, and pictorial evidence of the sports activities carried out in the merged districts.
The notification states that the committee must submit a comprehensive report within seven days, and copies of the directive have been dispatched to all Deputy Commissioners and concerned officials.
